User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5

A UTF-8 (properly) encoded page doesn't show some Chinese characters.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to http://bahai-library.com/browser/browse0.php
2. Choose Chinese as interface language (may need cookies enabled)

Actual Results:
Spaces in "go" button and menu items shouldn't be spaces.

Expected Results:
The characters should all appear.

The page displays properly in the Safari browser.
I have since changed the encoding to the proper GB2312 (in the database as well) but the characters are still not showing properly in Firefox (though they are in Safari)...
Confirm.

And in Firefox that applies MLTE patch of bug121540, it is possible to display it correctly.

Mac OS X 10.3.9
trunk build of Firefox and Camino.
Adding dependency per comment #2.
Depends on: atsui
Being a relative novice to this all:

1) Does this all mean that the fix is going to be applied (or on its way to being applied) to a future trunk release?
2) Though I don't really need it myself, out of curiosity, where would one install (paste in?) the patch? (I presume the patch would be the last dated item titled "patch" which wasn't crossed out)

This clearly isn't a Firefox bug, Masatoshi Kimura, can you reassign to a proper component (Core: GFx: Mac?) or dupe as appropriate?

I've changed it back to UTF-8, and (sheepish expression), I'm sorry to say I also needed to fix the original content, which wasn't in fact all UTF-8. However, it is still true, that despite now being all UTF-8 (in content and with server headers, meta tags, XML declaration, etc.), there are still a few characters missing at http://www.bahai-library.com/browser/test-browse/browse0.php?langu=zh

thanks,
Brett

I don't recall now what I did differently, but I am not having the UTF-8 trouble anymore. Really sorry...
