User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051221 Ubuntu/1.4.99+1.5rc3.dfsg-1ubuntu9 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051221 Ubuntu/1.4.99+1.5rc3.dfsg-1ubuntu9 Firefox/1.5
When you single-click on the URL bar of firefox, it places the cursor wherever you click. Is there ever a time when you single-click on the address bar when you don't want to select all? Most of the time, you click on the address bar to change, copy, or cut the address. All of these generally require the entire address bar to be selected. Would it hurt to have the entire address bar be selected on a single click? This is the default behavior of IE, and it's what one would think would happen when you single-click on it.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Single-Click on the address bar.
Actual Results:
The cursor is put where you clicked.
Expected Results:
The entire URL should be selected.

Single-click selects all and subsequent clicks place the cursor at the click location in the build specified above.

Ryan Flint, you are right. The Linux GTK2 version does not exhibit this behavior.

This is done by default on Linux, and there is a pref. to control this called browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll.

Confirmed: This is not the default behavior in Linux. I just downloaded the stock Linux 686 tarbell and created a new profile, the default behavior is single-click to insert carret.
GTK version 2.8.9

Close this bug, the single-click behavior should stay consistant with GTK by default.
