The Firefox and Thunderbird EULAs are currently hosted at:
http://www.mozilla.org/foundation/EULA/
As they are the EULAs for mozilla.com products, they should move to mozilla.com.

As part of this, a redirect needs putting in place, and the URLs in the product and the existing EULAs need updating. Some of them reference "WWW.MOZILLA.ORG/LICENSING", which itself is a redirect. But also the foundation/EULA URL is embedded in the about:licen[sc]e text.

Gerv:
What do you want the new URL to be? If I know what it is going to be, I can modify the URLs in the product EULAs.
It might be good to file a separate bug for the source change and leave this one just for the actual moving of the files and redirect(s).

I don't know what the new URLs will be; I'm not the webmaster of www.mozilla.com :-) Let's get a copy up in the right place, then fix the embedded URLs, then take down the mozilla.org copy and set up a redirect, in that order.

pkim: If you can move these over to mozilla.com, I can add redirects on mozilla.org and work on a patch to update all the EULA files in source to point to the new location.

Hi Paul,
Can we get a location for the EULAs on Mozilla.com? www.mozilla.com/EULA maybe?

My suggestion was http://www.mozilla.com/legal/eula/ . But it's really down to whoever is designing the mozilla.com URL structure. Does mozilla.com have a webmaster?
Gerv
Let's go with www.mozilla.com/about/eula/ for the migrated EULA. This is the simplest way to implement hosting of the EULAs on mozilla.com. If we create a site structure like www.mozilla.com/legal/eula/ we will need to do additional work to create a new sidebar menu. Going with mozilla.com/about/eula/ will enable us to get the EULAs posted quickly and won't require creation of new navigation elements. Let me know if anyone has strong feelings about creating a separate legal/ top level directory.
CC'ing Steven Garrity to create the new pages. I need to get some guidance from cbeard on a request for edits to the English version passed on by Gerv but we can get started on creating stage pages on the Silverorange staging site for mozilla.com.
Steven: Can you please do the following:
1) Take the page at: www.mozilla.org/foundation/EULA/ and create a new page based on it at www.mozilla.com/about/eula/ - please host on the Silverorange staging server for now.
2) Can you work with sysadmins to scope out redirects that will be required at .org to route users to new EULA page on mozilla.com?
Gerv: You mentioned new language versions of the EULA. What are they?

URLs and navigation structure need not match, and URLs should generally be more permanent. (This may favor a flatter tree for the URL hierarchy.)

I agree about URL structure. Divorce it from navigation. /about/ is not the right place for legal stuff IMO. These URLs have to last a long time.
/legal/ is good at the top level because it can also have /legal/trademarks/.
The localised versions have been placed in bug 330080 by rebron.

Makes sense to me.
So we'll go with:
http://www.mozilla.com/legal/eula/ for the location of the EULAs.
Steven: above means we'll need to figure out changes to the sidebar (perhaps back to the creation of a standalone sidebar a la the Press Center sidebar) and create a meaningful breadcrumb trail in the top navigation as well.

Can we get http://www.mozilla.org/foundation/EULA/ to just do a straight redirect?

Checking in .htaccess;
/cvsroot/mozilla-org/html/foundation/.htaccess,v <-- .htaccess

I think I did it correctly. I will verify once it reaches stage/production.

Well, the first try wasn't right, but I have fixed it and it is working now.
