As you can see in this picture(http://irmug.org/camino-firefox.tiff) Persian/Arabic Text in Camino 1.0 RC1 & Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.1 is the same as regular! I think this is because of Lucida Grande lack of Bold Face but after changing it to any other fonts, problem is still present.
You can test that url with Opera9 preview1 and Safari 2.0.3, and you will see they have not this problem.(http://irmug.org/Safari-Opera.tiff)
sorry for my bad English.
Regards

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
View some Persian/Arabic text with Bold face.
Actual Results:
Bold text is same as regular! same as this:

Expected Results:
It should be Bold! same as this:

I wonder if this is something that only works at all on 10.4.x? I don't see any difference between bold/non-bold versions of that text in Safari 1.3.2, but I do in the linked screenshots from 10.4.

I'd guess that this is something that would be fixed with the MLTE patches in 121540, but if it's not right in Safari on 10.3.9, I can't expect it to be right in the MLTE builds, either (for the record, bold/plain look the same in the MLTE v9.1 Fx build I have).

Can someone on 10.4 have a look at this in a build with the MLTE patches and see if that fixes it?

Summary: Arabic/Persian Bold text → Arabic/Persian bold text does not appear bold in Camino/Fx
Version: unspecified → 1.8 Branch
This is based on the page in URL field, but it has bold and plain text on the same page.
Safari 2.0.2/Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later does not have this problem. I dont know the problem was Safari/Webkit or Tiger itself. here is the BiDi related fix list of safari 2.0.2:
Many RTL/bidi text fixes.

    * Several fixes in WebCore’s bidi algorithm.
    * Fixed a bug where Hebrew, Arabic, Farsi and other RTL languages were being rendered with incorrect weighting.
    * Fixed a bug where Hebrew, Arabic and other RTL languages would fail to render RTL in some cases.
    * Made visually ordered Hebrew render correctly.
    * Fixed incorrect bidi layout of ETs, ANs, and ENs in some contexts.
    * Fixed the final layout order of text runs with different bidi embedding levels.
    * Fixed bidi layout in many cases of explicit Unicode embedding.
    * Fixed layout when English numbers appear in the among the RTL characters.
    * Fixed a bug where Hebrew or Arabic text on long pages became garbled.

BTW, I will test this MLTE patched Firefox:

I have tested Firefox 1.6 MLTE v 9.1 patched test build and here are the results:
1. After changing Lucida Grande to Geeza Pro or any other Persian Compatible Font, Bold text apears as it should be! Can I suggest you to change Mozilla/Firefox/Camino default arabic font to Geeza Pro?
2. However MLTE has some problems with BiDi texts itself, but I will report them to its own Bugzilla Bug after I get latest version of MLTE patch. does anyone have a MLTE v9.3 patched build?
Thanks
Indeed, after setting my Arabic font to Geeza Pro, the text appears bold in the firefox-1.6a1.MLTE-V9.1-testbuild.mac.dmg on 10.3.9, too.

The reason that Arabic (as well as most of the other working non-Western, non-CJK scripts) have their default fonts set to Lucida Grande and Monaco is bug 246527 (and some related bugs), which remains a serious problem; you'll notice that of the standard Mac OS X Arabic fonts, only Geeza Pro appears in the font menu.

To my knowledge, there are no publicly-available builds with the newer versions of the MLTE patch.

This was fixed by bug 299222, right?
It sure looks like it by build range. (It was probably ultimately fixed earlier in a fonts rewrite, but it definitely took setting the right font prefs by default to manifest the fix.)

Fixed on trunk in Thebes, not on branch in Gfx:Mac. Not sure why I made this be 1.8branch back then other than maybe I expected the MLTE patches to fix it in the 1.8 timeframe.
