According to the Windows ClearType Team Video Blog the new Fonts Verdana, Georgia are better readable than the default Fonts Arial and Times new Roman.
The old Fonts were designed with printing in mind, the new ones are made for displaying them

I'm not sure if the Fonts are bundled with Windows or with any other app (Office?) but Mozilla should evaulate using those fonts as default Fonts.
IMO they are quite better readable.
(this also applies for Thunderbird)

Reproducible: Always
