User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; sv-SE; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; sv-SE; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1
This has started to happen for me lately. It may have been introduced in 1.5
I tried this in "save-mode" and with java and javascript disabled.
Here is an example site: The content type seems to be invalid, so it opens in a web page. (The page does not render, but "view source" shows that it has loaded a lot of binary ****.=
http://swedia.ling.umu.se/Gotaland/Halland/Frillesas/ow.html
Click MP3 file. (left "sound icon") (http://swedia.ling.umu.se/Ljud/Gotaland/Halland/Frillesas/fri_ow_red_pb.mp3)
press "back"
click the MP3 file again.
CRASH
(You can also try to the link directly, and press reload.)
There seems to be other bugs related to content type too, like some
types are always asking for which program to open in, and so on.
(And were did the setting to NOT open adobe documents inline go?)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. open http://swedia.ling.umu.se/Ljud/Gotaland/Halland/Frillesas/fri_ow_red_pb.mp3
2. reload
3. crash
Actual Results:
firefox exits.

WFM. Could you retry after deleting downloads.rdf in your profile?
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Folder
If it still crashes, could you reinstall Firefox with Talkbalk (choose custom install; Quality Feedback Agent) and provide a Talkback ID?
To find the ID after the crash go to <install dir>\extensions\talkback@mozilla.org\components\talkback.exe and copy the ID to this bug.

After removing the profile, the browser still crashed.
I reinstalled with the quality agent enabled. The same crash, but the quality agent didn't start.
So I decided to uninstall and remove the mozilla directory (install dir), and then reinstall, thinking that the agent wasn't set up properly... And after that, the bug is gone, the browser "detects" that the link is an "MPEG Layer 3 Audio", and shows a nice dialogue... Unfortunately , I removed the old install dir, so I can't reproduce.
