I logged on comp today and all my bookmarks were gone, Used Chatzilla and got help in fixing that problem, but My search bar is present on my toolbar but the G box is missning.  When I type something in the search box and hit enter nothing happens.  I reinstalled the latest version of FF and still no G box.  I have searched this site and not found any other instances of this problem.  I use the google box alot and would like to get it functioning again.  Thanks

Deleting the localstore.rdf file in your profile does that work?

my embedded search engine box is not working either.  the google G is gone, as are all other search engines i had.  nor can i install any new engines, when i click 'add engine' and go to the mozilla engine directory.

additionally, when i type a search term in the box and hit enter, nothing happens.

when i install the google toolbar from the google site (which i don't care for), this works fine.  it's strictly the firefox embedded search engine box that seems to be the problem.

the search engine box is is essential to mozilla!  please don't delay on this.

I am having the same exact problem.  I am also noticing that the changes I make to my views and addtional shortcut buttons are not being saved when I close the browser and open it up again.
