User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0b; Windows 98)
Build Identifier: Camino Version 2006021104 (1.0+)

When viewing the subject msnbc page scrolling, page up/page down and menu performance become sluggish and unusable (G4 450 dual). I have a suspicion the performance is impaired by the ticker underneath the banner.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to subject URL.
2. Attempt to scroll or use menus
Actual Results:
GUI is unresponsive.

Expected Results:
GUI should respond to mouse actions.

Sample to be appended.
Attached file Camino sample
Here is a sample with the subject msnbc url loaded. This is greek to me, so please take a look and dup as appropriate.
Deerpark 20060211 trunk is marginally more responsive than Camino with this site, but still sluggish, so this could be Core.
We've basically been mass-duping any "animation/ticker/etc. slowdowns" to bug 166932 since bug 280982 was "fixed" (aka improved as much as possible).

Mike/Simon, care to look at this sample to see if there's anything interesting, or just dupe?
I guess it could also happen because of the flash ad (e.g. bug 139751 and others)
We're spending all the time in reflow (not drawing). If we're any slower than Fx, then we can attribute that to bug 166932. Otherwise this is a core "reflow is slow" bug.
Resummarizing and changing product to Core based on performance consistent with FF. Still looking for a bug to dup against (there are scores of bugs concerning reflow).
Component: General → Layout
Product: Camino → Core
Summary: Scrolling and menus unresponsive on MSNBC → Scrolling and menus unresponsive on MSNBC during reflow
Version: unspecified → 1.8 Branch
Do you still see this problem using Firefox 3.5? Please update the bug, and close/alter bug if appropriate.

No reply, INCO. Please reopen if you are seeing this in Firefox 3.5.2 or later in Firefox safe mode and a new profile with the latest plugins.
