Saving page with images via Firefox results in an empty whatever_files dir and no main html page is saved. IE5.5 and Opera8.5 do save the page as expected.
A page with a non-displaying (invalid local) image ref should still save the html page and all other images normally.
Above forum thread has 2 posts by a user (see source) whose avatar image points to a file ono their own hard drive:
"c:\Documents and Settings\Syd Barrett\Desktop\SoulShack\pics\0324sizemore.jpg"
This poster can see their own avatar image but no one else can. They don't know there's a problem but any thread they post to cannot be saved with images in Firefox.
Creating a local path with an image of the expected filename there, makes no difference to Firefox and still nothing is saved. Save without images does save the html page as expected.
With this, a poster in a forum can sabotage threads so they won't save. (via Firefox)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. open any online web page with 1 or more broken (invalid) local (hard drive based) image urls
2. try to save the page as type complete (with images)
Actual Results:
3. the _files dir is empty and no main html file is saved, no err is shown
THE PAGE CANNOT BE SAVED WITH IMAGES BY FIREFOX.
Expected Results:
The page should save with all images except the one(s) referencing someone's local hard drive.
I am not able to test Firefox 1.5 for this yet but it seems likely to be a problem there too. Note that I have found this problem on a great number of other web pages also and it took awhile to correlate what the cause is.
I read the summaries of all file related bugs and none appeared to cover this but this may be what is causing some of the other reported file saving problems.
