I think this problem is like other lost files problems, but I think I can detail. Forgive me for my english. I've got french accent ;) . The problem is : I use Firefox (or thunderbird) and the system suddenly crashes (after a power loss for example). When I launch FF ou TB agains, the bookmarks and preferences are gone ! So I search the disk, and I see that folder where lost files are stored during boot-scandisk (I dont remember the exact name). I find some files in it. I view them, and what I see ? The bookmark file, and preferences file ! So I Just copy the bookmark file I found in its original place -> ok ! But for preferences I couldn't find the original file. Nevermind : I restored my bookmarks and it's fine. So I juste re-setup my preferences, and let's go ! The real problem is that the files in question are let write-open by the program, so a crash let them without enf-of-file and the next scandisk move them to found.000 (maybe thats the name) folder. Can it be prevented ? Thanks and merci ! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.let firefox or thunderbird open 2.unplug your PC 3.re-plug and see the result ! Actual Results: Search "found.000" folder for bookmark files and restore it to its original place. Expected Results: Back bookmarks, but still lost preferences. Now I use Firefox 1.5.0.1 but I've seen and re-done the problem on version 1.5 From this time I upgraded to 1.5.0.1 so I don't know if the problem is likely to be reproduced with this version. I don't want to try, I'm fed up with re-setting up. Moreover with thunderbird where I have to re-set my accounts up, and find mail folders again. And I haven't noticed that the problem have been solved. Maybe I have to patch my english :P Obviously No Talkback crash ID because no software crash !
