Particularly regarding cairo's inability to draw dotted invert, we should try to match our dotted colours to system colours. My experimentation suggests that the usual dotted colour matches the ThreeDDarkShadow on normal controls, with some exceptions such as menulists and current selected list/tree items, whose dotted colour is the HighlightText colour, and tree threads, which are ThreeDShadow.

I haven't a clue what we are talking about here, and WINDOWS 2000 is no longer supported.

@reporter: Can you please check whether this one still will need work on it?

This relates to the dotted lines that occur occasionally in themes (see URL); not all of them use system colours when they probably should.
