User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20060314 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20060314 Firefox/1.5

Typing something in adressbar is very slow in newest branch builds for me.
It was much faster before a week. Perhaps related to "Places"?

I saw, that CPU usage goes up to 100% if typing something into adressbar.

using
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20060314 Firefox/1.5 ID:2006031405

I disabled all extensions while testing, so it's not related to any extension

----

I forced a crash with crash.exe while typing something into adressbar.
I hope this helps to fix that bug

Yes, I see also that there is a difference.
I see a regression between 1.9a1_2006030106 and 1.9a1_2006030121 and that is when Places got enabled by default:

When I type jjjjj as fast as I can I see a CPU usage of 80% - 90% in a Places build and 50% - 60% in pre-Places build.

If you type nonsense like "gsfsfsdofhsodhfpsfers" , cpu usage even goes up to 99% on my computer (AMD Duron 1000 Mhz).

... and I get up to 100% cpu usage if I click on menu "Bookmarks". cpu-usage remains 100% if I click repeatedly on menu "bookmarks".
I also get it, if I scroll around in menu "bookmarks".

All other menus are fine.

I never seen this before a week ... I think it's also related to "Places".
It is slow because it's doing too much work -> bug 320181 (reduce autocomplete search).

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
