Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1

Users subscribed to a large number of RSS feeds, experience severe delays when starting Firefox. Firefox tries to download all headlines, causing CPU problems (sometime OS hangs) and bandwidth throttling. Users should have the option to load live bookmarks when they need them, not when starting. RSS feeds are popular, but not all users have high-speed connections. I, myselö, have to download ~3.5 Mb (subscribed to 70 feeds) each time; it takes about 15 minutes on a 56k connection! Users with high-speed connections may not notice, but users who don't have access to one (most of the world!) or are travelers, find it very annoying!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. subscribe to a large number of RSS feeds (e.g. 50)
2. open Firefox
3. wait!

Actual Results:
Increased CPU usage, bandwidth hogging, browser unusabel until the feeds are loaded, sometimes Firefox freezes and OS hangs!

Expected Results:
Give the option to load live bookmarks ONLY when selected.

Yes, although 287341 expired! This is very annoying, we live in the RSS era and I wouldn't want to know how awful it is for people with more feeds than me!
