My downloading option selections is stuck on default despite what I have selected in options

However, every time I download a file, the default save to desktop is selected and the option to open or run file with whatever program option is faded out not allowing me to select it. Also 99% of all the files I downloaded since this bug has occurred have all downloaded as an application. When I tried to open said application, it says that the file is not Win32 applicable and I cannot download the file. If this is in the wrong place I apologize please move it. I hope this problem gets fixed soon; it is very annoying and really interfering with my internet experience Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Click Tools, Options, Downloads, Ask me where to download everytime, Click Ok 2.Find a file to download, the default for save to desktop is selected and all other options are greyed making them unselectable 3.After download finishes, double click on file or right click and select open Actual Results: I got the error message: C:\Documents and Settings\My Username\Desktop\a file name.exe is not a valid Win32 application Expected Results: The download window should have allowed me to choose where I wanted to save my file and given me the option to open or run the file upon completion I have windows xp professional, my computer is not brand new nor is it old. I will include a saved file containing my most recent dx diagnostics results.
I hope this helps, also because of this bug I cannot get the latest updates for my computer
Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!
