User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060321 Firefox/1.6a1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060321 Firefox/1.6a1 browser.chrome.favicons is set to false. Somehow, however, cached icons are still displaying next to a few bookmarks. The problem is that I have retained the same prefs.js throughout any upgrade process, and so the aforementioned setting hs remained false the entire time. Because of this, I don't know how cached favicons could have somehow crept into my bookmarks.html. More likely, these favicons are not actually "cached", because they do not display in the lastest official build. I do not know their source if they are not in bookmarks.html. I see this in both Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060321 Firefox/1.6a1 and Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20060321 Firefox/2.0a1. This bug is not present in official release 1.5.0.1. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:

Hm, with browser.chrome.site_icons to false all favicons are gone in 1.5.0.1 but I still see them all in the latest trunk. browser.chrome.favicons to false seems only to affect the favicon in the locationbar.

This pref is not currently used by places so it still stores favicons.

We're not going to support this pref in future, less codepaths for the win.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
