When composing a message with Seamonkey Mail/News, people should be able to open the attachments that they have added to their messages, by double clicking them in the attachments pane.
This is an important feature to many people, because they often do not know if they have selected the "right" attachment and would like to verify it by opening it up before they send it over.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Seamonkey Mail/News
2. Click 'Compose' to begin composing a message
3. Add an attachment to your email message
4. Try to double-click on the filename's entry in the 'Attachments:' pane -- also, note that 'Open' is not a present item in the right-click context menu.
Actual Results:
File does not open; context menu contains no Open option
Expected Results:
File should open using Seamonkey's standard 'Opening' dialog if the attachment is double-clicked, and if right-clicked, the context menu should have an 'Open' option that does the same thing.
This feature is available in Thunderbird. I've never hacked on the code before but later tonight I'll take a look to see how easy it'd be to port it over from Thunderbird to Seamonkey, and if I can figure it out, I'll post a patch.
