User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 Many people still have slow, modem connections to the internet. They uncheck "Load Images" however, links that are not coded properly don't appear at all. Graphical picture buttons that are hyperlinked do not render. This can force users to load images (and ads) to continue through the site. Could all the text load first, then the text links that show the locations of all the hyperlinks on the page, and THEN the pictures? That way people could load images but as soon as they saw the link they wanted they could "click ahead". Design suggestion: All links on the page should display a text link to the hyperlink before the image loads. After the image loads it could be replaced. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click Tools->options->content 2. Uncheck Load Images 3. Try to navigate through sites that use picture buttons for hyperlinks. Actual Results: Text version of hyperlink does not appear. Nothing appears above the hyperlink but it still there. If you run the cursor over the location, its location appears in the status bar. You can click and goto the site. Expected Results: A text of the hyperlink appears UNTIL the picture is loaded. This is just an alpha web site but it was created with Microsoft's Frontpage which does not code to show the link instead. Many web pages can not be navigated through without loading the images. This must be a way to force people to load the ads as well.

Related to/duplicate of Core bug 148593 -> Core bug 61711?
The problem on http://actualcomputerhelp.com/ involves an image map that doesn't have alternate text for any of its links. So that's probably bug 8131. There might be other situations in which Firefox doesn't show anything for an image link when images are disabled, but those are separate bugs. (P.S. I'd be wary of asking for "computer help" from someone who creates their web pages in FrontPage and doesn't use alternate text.) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 8131 ***
