You said you've seen this for a while. Would it be possible to identify which build you first saw this probelm with? Thanks.

Sorry, I don't remember....I thought somebody from the installer group will report that & it will be fixed shortly since it was so obviously. After a while, I just found that it seemed that it didn't get fixed... During this time, I was using "Netscape6-mac.sea" instead of "Netscape6Installer.sea.bin".... but I am sure that this problem already in Beta1 build and my Mac is G4.

Huang, I understand that you don't remember. However, the installer (beta1 and trunk) has been working fine on OS 9.0 on many machines. I suspect contamination of the "Temporary Items" folder and hence needed to know the date. There is a bug in OS 9.0 about not cleaning out the "Temporary Items" folder -- a feature the installer relies on from the OS. I would like to look at your machine when you get a spare moment. I understand that this may be a bug of sorts but it is hard to pinpoint if it is a dup of an existing bug without actually looking at the machine since it is isolated to your machine currently. Do let me know when I can stop (mailto:sgehani). Thanks.

The last sentence should have read "Do let me know when I can stop by."

Karen, After our discussion earlier this afternoon I came up with an interim hack that cleans out your "Temporary Items" folder. I took the liberty of stoping by your cube and cleaning your mahcine. I have also installed today's trunk build on your desktop. Given that this bug only affects those that used the installer while it was broken (something external users won't see) I'm closing it out.

I am still getting crash for the installer for today, yesterday, even the day before yesterday's trunk build..... So, does this mean that I cannot use daily Installer at all since this bug cannot be fixed?
