to open .exe it asks what to open it with; so i have to save instead of just opening it from a temporary file

when downloading, if i just want to open a .exe file it asks for a program to open it with; dont know what program to open it with since its a .exe. this might just be my computer illiteracy. but i end up having to save the file and delete later after i've installed the program.

1.download a .exe
2.try to open instead of save
3.asks what program to open with
Actual Results:
have to save it to my computer and delete it later after its installed
Expected Results:
just save the file to a temp file and open it
