Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060425 Minefield/3.0a1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060425 Minefield/3.0a1

After you install a search plugin from addons.mozilla.org or mycroft.mozdev.org, the search bar remains the same: there is only the generic search icon. When you click the icon to bring up the menu, there is nothing there.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Go to addons.mozilla.org or mycroft.mozdev.org
2.Click to install a search plugin
3.Click OK at the dialog.

Actual Results:
nothing changes in the search bar

Expected Results:
search bar changes if it is the first plugin installed
if there is more than one plugin, a new item is added in the menu

I don't have any extensions that deal with the search bar
Version: unspecified → Trunk
Are you using a build that doesn't include the patch from bug 335472? Some of yesterday's builds were broken. That said, I do see some bustage with the latest trunk nightly (error dialog any time you try to load an engine), but that doesn't to be what you're seeing.

You are correct. All I see is a prompt asking to install the plugin.
Also, which build included the patch from bug #335472?
The error I'm talking about is an error dialog that appears after the confirmation dialog. Seeing the confirmation dialog is expected.

Today's official nightly (and any made from source pulled after 2006-04-25 22:13 PDT) should have the patch.
If you look at the original post, my build identifier is 20060425.
Bug fixed...only a problem for 20060425 builds

There is no time associated with the identifier, so it's pretty much worthless.
