Details
Applies to build 2000032808 and nightly builds back to around M14. Start mozilla the usual way; window opens, mozilla.org loads. Open new window either from File menu or Button2 on a link. New window opens, all seems well. However, if after the second window opens, the original one is closed, the canvas in the second window redraws once (correctly), after which that second window's UI becomes unresponsive to events relating to mouse position. The first window closes by all appearances normally. The second window's scrollbar can be moved, but doing so does not cause any movement in the canvas. Less reproducibly, the menus may respond to mouse clicks but menu entries don't highlight when the mouse passes over one, and submenus don't pop open when mouse hovers over them. Terminal output as follows: ... Document: Done (4.203 secs) In OpenBrowserWindw()... WEBSHELL+ = 4 assuming d&d is off for Navigator WEBSHELL+ = 5 Setting content window Loading page specified via openDialog in SetSecurityButton Document http://www.mozilla.org/ loaded successfully Document: Done (2.504 secs) WEBSHELL- = 4 WEBSHELL- = 3 In OpenBrowserWindw()... i described how this bug responds to various mouse/kb input in bug 33230 . Not 100% sure that was the right place to comment about it though.

I cannot reproduce this using the steps described above (either the scrollbar or the menu issues noted)[using 1000032909 linux]. However, the general problem noted, where the scrollbar no longer causes the content area to be scrolled, is a known problem -- bug #24696 -- which people have triggered by several different methods. Marking this bug a duplicate of 24696, but please reopen if I'm missing something. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 24696 ***
