User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1a2) Gecko/20060510 BonEcho/2.0a2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1a2) Gecko/20060510 BonEcho/2.0a2 If you enable spell checking on all fields (change the preference layout.spellcheckDefault to 2) the search box underlines misspelled words but doesn't offer spelling suggestions in the context menu. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Change layout.spellcheckDefault to 2 2.Type some misspelled words into the search box Actual Results: The misspelled words are underlined but there are no suggestions in the context menu. Expected Results: The context menu should offer spelling suggestions or not underline misspelled words.
AFAIK, spell-as-you-type will be disabled by default on all chrome text boxes. It would probably still be nice though to have the option to easily re-enable it per text box (at least for extensions).

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20060601 Firefox/2.0.0.1 (Ubuntu-edgy) I have the same issue (without changing any preferences). Weird as it's pretty much the same set up as my laptop, where it works fine.
