I beg you! Someone has to fix it. Cut and paste randomly works. Most of the time it doesn't. Keyboard shortcuts and menues. Most of the time cut and/or paste in the menu are not active and ctrl+ins doesn't copy stuff to the clipboard.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.copy something
2.paste something
3.???
4.No profit.
Actual Results:
Nothing will copy and paste.
Expected Results:
Firefox to copy text and paste it to something somewhere else.
Didn't work the first time try more times. 80% it won't work.
Does this with other installs on other computers as well.

Try http://kb.mozillazine.org/Clipboard_not_working ...this type of issue with really basic functionality in a stable release is probably more useful to bring up in a support forum like those at http://forums.mozillazine.org/ before filing a bug.
Just to make sure people understand how serious
this bug is... I have temporary switched to
Opera instead now because it's very very annoying
to have a semi-buggy copy/paste. This is not the
type of bug I ever want to see in stable release ;/
---
This has nothing todo with malware or spyware.
I run into this problem several times per day
with a clean WinXP (+all patches) and FF 1.5.0.3
Further, this is not a problem with the clipboard.
If you analyze it carefully enough you will notice
that a lot of other things are broke too. For instance
when CTRL-C and CTRL-V have stopped working is no
longer possible to move the arrow keys left or right
inside a form textbox. Also if you use mouse in the
Edit menu copy/paste will work. My guess is that this
is some kind of keypress issue. Like for instance
if Firefox doesnt exactly know which control has
focus and sends the keypresses to the wrong XUL
widget or something like that.
Because I run into this problem like 20+ times per
day and others seem to never run into this problem
I suspect that it might be a problem with some
javascript or something that I frequently use.
I'm not sure.
However, once the CTRL-C and CTRL-V keys stop working
and you simultaneously cannot move cursor left/right
in form textboxes you will also experience the same
problems in the URL textbox and the top-right Google
searchbox so it's not entirely a bad-html problem
it must be something with FF/ZUL or something too.

pipes, is your problem resolved in FF 1.5.0.4? (eg. bug 133439)
and if not, did you check http://kb.mozillazine.org/Clipboard_not_working
Summary: Fix please please fix the cut and paste problem → cut and paste problem

from pipes, steps for comment 0:
1. open firefox.
2. copy something with the mouse.
3. open a new firefox window.
4. paste it somewhere like search bar or addy bar.
never works.
When openning the new window with a shortcut or something and not in the file menu. If someone plans to fix this check out the copy paste shortcut keys. They seem to be off as well. Things like ctrl+insert shift+insert.

No. All other programs work with copy paste. Does not copy something from Firefox to other programs. Your question reminds me of a work around when copy paste is disabled at what seems random and annoying times. Just copy some text in other programs to fix it without restarting.

do you see this in a trunk build?

I am having this same problem in Mac OS 10.3.9.
I'll often use CMD-A to select the address in the address bar. Sometimes when I try to do this in the latest FF release, it instead "copies" everything on the entire web page, even though the cursor was placed in the address bar.
Also, when CMD-C and CMD-V cease working, sometimes the MENU selection for CUT, COPY, or PASTE also grey out and cease to work. Strangely, other times they do work, but not completely.
This is a major problem that, combined with the apostrophe pulling up the FIND box instead of typing as text, has caused me to quit using Firefox until it is fixed.

If I copy sommething from Rootsweb using Firefox to access Roots web and try to past into AOL to write a message to some one it looks like garbage. I must first copy into Microsoft word and then copy paste into AOl. Then the message is readable.
