A news message with an attachment. Attempting to save an attachment while offline brings up the save message as dialog. Selecting any filename brings up an Alert window with an ok button with the following:
Unable to save the attachement. Please check your file name and try again later.
It should probably let you know you're offline when you go to save the attachment and not make it look like you can actually save it.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go offline.
2. View a newsgroup message with an attachment.
3. Attempt to save the attachment.
Actual Results:
Alert window with an ok button with the following:
Unable to save the attachement. Please check your file name and try again later.
Expected Results:
Should mention that you are offline and ask you to go online to get the attachment.

Bryan, could you please check if the issue still occurs in the latest supported Thunderbird version 2.0.0.12 or trunk nightlies?

It still happens in both 2.0.0.12 and in the trunk nightlies (http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-trunk/thunderbird-3.0a1pre.en-US.win32.installer.exe)
It creates a 0 byte file with the correct file name but still gives the message listed above while offline in both versions.

Offline news has no love...
