Make "spell check this field" default for search box. or provide a pref. option to do that similar bug# 340420 Support Google "Did you mean..." spelling suggestions in FF2 searchbar

Yeah, but this has a problem. When I type donald jones in the input field, google will do a correct search, although this will be marked as spelled wrong. I think too many search terms will be typed in that field that the spell checker will mark as wrong. When you expect the search field to be filled up with red marks, you won't pay attention to it anymore.

This is probably WONTFIX, because spell checking UI will be removed from all chrome textboxes (see bug 336799) - and has never been added to the search box at all, in the first place.

I agree that this would probably be more annoying than it is useful, especially since bug 340420 will be fixed for Google, and Yahoo already does automatic spelling fixes (try searching for "brittany spears").
