Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060608 Ubuntu/dapper-security Firefox/1.5.0.4

Has happened with various builds over the last few months. After browsing for a while, I'll click a link on a webpage and the page will load - the data is transferred as normal, according to the bottom of the browser. The window title will update, but page rendering doesn't happen. Clicking back/forward/refresh doesn't resolve it. Closure of browser resolves the issue every time.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
No steps, problem is random and not limited to a particular site or page.
Actual Results:
n/a

Expected Results:
Loaded the page ;-).

I don't install plugins - java, flash, shockwave, etc. Have experienced problem on Linux and FreeBSD over several months.
I presume you've reproduced this with an official Mozilla build of Firefox?
Does it still occur in safe mode? (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode)
Can you see any pattern in the URLs loaded when it stops rendering?
Is there any terminal output when it stops rendering, if you run Firefox from a terminal?
OS: Linux → All
Summary: Page won't render/refresh. Forced to close browser. → Pages won't render/refresh after browsing for a while
Version: unspecified → 1.5.0.x Branch
Have tried it with official builds. Not tried safe mode. No pattern to URLs. Not checked for terminal output. Will get an official build and check for terminal output.

I've just rememvered that occasionally Thunderbird does a similar thing - click a message and it'll just give a white window, rather than rendering the message. Do the two Mozilla programmes share anything, regarding HTML rendering?

They share just about everything.
If you could try in safe mode and from the terminal it would help.
I also experience this bug on occasion. It seems to take awhile before occuring, similar to bug 263160. Debian packages (i.e. not an official mozilla.org build), KDE, amd64. I don't have much info to add at present aside from confirming existence of the bug. Was unable to reproduce by visiting the URL that failed to load previously, but I'll let you know if I get any more info or find a way to reproduce. (I'll run my next restart of firefox from the terminal.)
Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!
