From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; m14) BuildID: 2000040308 The scroll feature on the IBM thinkpad doesn't scroll pages in Mozilla. On this computer, you access the scroll feature by pressing a special scroll button and use the Pointing Stick to pull up and down in the page. In Mozilla, this feature doesn't work, but it does work in Navigator 4.08. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.In preferences, choose Scroll 1 line when using Mouse Wheel 2.Go to any page that has more than 1 screenful of information 3.Press the scroll button and pull on the pointing stick. Actual Results: Nothing happens Expected Results: Page should have scrolled 1 line at a time
Adding bryner@uiuc.edu to Cc: list -- any thoughts?
kroquemore@excite.com - are you still seeing this problem with recent builds of Mozilla? Gerv
Yes, problem still manifests in Milestone 15 (B: 20000041805). Unfortunately, I haven't been able to test on more recent builds 'cuz I get a crash while trying to setup proxies. I have a theory (so far - unconfirmed): I think the Scroll feature on the Thinkpad may be equivalent to pressing and holding the scroll wheel while moving the mouse on an MS mouse. Is it possible that Mozilla is looking for the "Spin-The-Wheel" action but not looking for the "Hold-And-Pull" action?
You're right -- that action causes "panning" with native widgets, and we don't support that in Mozilla. I believe there's a "helpwanted" bug on implementing it.
