User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; ca; rv:1.8.1b1) Gecko/20060710 Firefox/2.0b1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; ca; rv:1.8.1b1) Gecko/20060710 Firefox/2.0b1 The script, which show actualized blogs, causes that cpu runs at 100% and slow the system. I tested it in LFS and ubuntu. It happens since firefox 1.5 to 2.0b1. In firefox 1.0 doesn't happen. Maybe it affect to other pages. I tested it with -safe-mode without any extension. On windows runs correctly. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open http://blogger.com Actual Results: Firefox consume 100% cpu Expected Results: Run correctly, how on windows.
Summary: 100% cpu when blogger.com → 100% cpu when i oppened blogger.com
I think this is somehow related to the graphics driver. I had the same problem, and generally slow performance on various sites, but when I installed the non-free ATI drivers (I have a Radeon 9200 Pro) like in http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Edgy_Installation_Guide, everything started working much better.
OK, it seems I can get it to work with both drivers if I use Option "XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps" in the Device section of xorg.conf, as recommended in the linked wiki article. Note, for me it wasn't Firefox that consumed a lot of CPU but X. Still clearly related to the graphics system.
Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!
