I experience perhaps twice a day in normal Firefox usage. The only way I have found to restore normal functionality is to restart the browser. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Use browser as normal 2.click in location bar or search box to give them focus 2.Attempt to type in Location bar or search box Actual Results: Characters fail to appear in Location bar or search box, even though the cursor is in the box and blinking. The cursor behaves as normal, except the Location box does not respond to key-presses (including backspace). Expected Results: Characters should have appeared as normal.
I've seen this, too. I think it may have something to do with Flash being loaded in a tab.
Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2 and the lastest Flash? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!

I believe this is a bug, or at least I am experiencing something similar in recent builds, such as Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.9a7pre) Gecko/2007072404 Minefield/3.0a7pre Similar symptoms are shown in bug 383579, which may be a dupe of this one but is probably a regression caused by the switching on of Cairo
I'm pretty sure this is Josh's bug (fallout from Cocoa).

Can the owner give an update ? Is still the same with FF 2.0.16 or FF3.0.1 ?
