If the resubmission date is reached, the bug is reopened automatically (-> notification to asignee and visible on the open bugs list, etc.). Such an feature is quite useful if you're using bugzilla for outside of classic bugtracking, but general work organisation. Bugzilla so can remind you if you've got to check something after some delay (ie. recontact someone). Of course there is whining, but it is missing an proper source of information for such cases. We should have an extra field for it to query on. Reproducible: Always

I definitely much prefer the whining system for that.

The problem is: resubmissions are not always after the same time. For eaxmple if I like to call someone back on a specific date and want to get notified on the morning of exactly this day, whining won't help - it does not have any information suited for that.

In a sense, I think this is actually a valid non-Whining bug. After we implement custom workflows, we could implement a system that automatically did certain workflow changes at certain times. Sort of like whining, but automatically changing bugs.

Sort of like > whining, but automatically changing bugs. Very interesting! To me, this actually seems like a combination of Whining and workflow. The workflow would define what happens, with whining used to trigger the event based on search parameters (except instead of sending an email, whining would trigger the workflow).
