Camino implements tabbed browsing overflow handling the same way Safari does. It can be pretty painful, and I even have a 24" monitor.

The problems with the menu include:

- once I open more than N (N=max visible tabs) tabs, if the active tab is in the overflow set, I can't see the active tab anymore, or any of the tabs around it.
- this sort of UI sort of prevents tab drag&drop, unless you want to do drag and drop into the overflow menu, which pink has told me numerous times is considered a UI abomination by mac folk ;-)

The problem is I can't tell you for sure what the best solution is. Firefox is trying another solution that fixes these issues for 2.0, but only time will tell how usable it is. I recommend watching Firefox and see if its approach turns out to be usable.

What I know right now is that the current solution is annoying, and so I'm filing this bug to let y'all know. ;-)
Ben, isn't this basically adding the functionality that's being implemented in bug 319777? See also, bug 338983.
I'm not sure that the in-progress code will fix all of point 1 ("I can't see the active tab anymore"), but the last Fx build with scrolling tabs also had that issue--you could still scroll such that the tab widget for the active tab was hidden :P

At some point I should file that bug to let y'all know ;)
