VERIFIED DUPLICATE of bug 23563

Details

Specificly when trying to import an address book, or opening a file (local file) there is no way to access files in hidden/ dot directories. This is an especially bad problem when trying to import a Netscape 4.7 address book, which is contained int $HOME/.netscape . However, there is no way to navigate to the .netscape directory. It is not shown, and there is no obvious way to have it shown. One cannot even type the directory name into the file name and have it move to the directory, instead it assumes the file name is the name of the file to be imported, when in fact it is a directory to be opened.

This has been resolved as WONTFIX in bug 23563, "Linux: File Dialog not showing hidden '.' (dot) files". Quoting: > this is a feature. to see . files type '.<TAB>' in the name field and it will > do it. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 23563 ***
Wow. Thanks, Sean!

This should be better documented... who the hell is going to figureout that you have to press "." then <tab>!? Tab means move to the next field, not show me the files that aren't visible. Why not add a check box or a note that explains this unique behavior.
mrolig@netscape.net, I'd suggest opening up a new bug for that issue, and assigning it to whomever 23563 was assigned to. Thanks!
