The application hangs.
This is pretty serious.
Does it happen with any mail? Do you quote the message in your reply?

I'm helping out the PDT and marking this as PDT+. This is just basic
(un)usability of the app.

Seems like a dogfood bug should have also been marked M15...
Target Milestone: --- → M15
Hmm... I'm using the same build as ji reported originally. I'm able to reply to
a HTML msg. _No_ hanging/freezing.
Using today's build (2000040708), I got the same problem again when replying
to the mails sent out using yesterday or today's build.
Update: tried this with this mornings builds 4-7 and Reply is OK for me too.
Note:
there is a bug that when you try to send or reply the very first time you
install on linux it doesn't work (work around was to close app then restart and
then it will send). Since you've tried other scenarios by relaunching, so this
may not be what you are running into, but I just want to make sure this bug is
not what you are seeing. (bug 33749).
We'll probably need to know more from reporter after we trouble shoot this.
ji - we can't reproduce your problem here in core QA. Perhaps something specific
to your system or account settings? Can you try with a new profile? And, then
pls come up to our area and perhaps show us what steps you are doing. Thanks.

If bug 33749 is not causing this, can you just simply Send a message (not Reply
or Forward)?

I found out the tricks:
The charset I used when sending out the reply mail is Japanese (ISO-2022-JP).
Using other charsets like ISO-8859-1, UTF-8 or Chinese doesn't cause the freeze.
Changed the area to i18n and assigned to Naoki for investigating.

Changed the summary accordingly and assigned myself as QA contact.
Thanks to core QA folks for helping me with this.

Is this a Linux only problem?
I used win32 build 2000040610 but I can reply to a japanese mail (the second
message of i18n smoke test).

This problem doesn't occur with win32 2000040709 build. It's linux specific problem.
