Once we've implemented the new profile migrator in bug 329744 I think it will be relatively simple to implement a migrator to import from both Firefox and Thunderbird profiles at the same time - thus allowing users to re-combine both profiles and return to SeaMonkey ;-)

It would be nice to simplify going the other way as well. Is there a bug for that (splitting Mozilla Suite into Firefox and Thunderbird, or individual ones for the import)?

That is not a Mozilla Suite issue, it is a Firefox/Thunderbird issue and should be filed separately.

Hmm, and this could be extended in the future to make it possible to import settings from, lets say, IE and Outlook or Safari and Mail at the same time (not here and now, of course)? Just asking about the possibility :-)

NO. bug 383052 is about updating the FF and Thunderbird profile migrators so that they can import SeaMonkey 2.x profiles. There is a reference in there to making some of the code common but that is NOT anything to do with this.
