This is a little questionable, because you'd have to click cmd *after* opening the menu (because otherwise it'd try to drag the items off of the toolbar), but It'd be a very cool thing IMO if the cmd and shift modifiers worked on items in the extended back/forward button menus.
Agreed that it'd be nice. Not sure if the consistency issue (not being able to do it if you hold Command before clicking) is a problem.

I think this would be nice, too. ("Tree-based session history" :P Well, we can sorta-fork a new branch)

In addition to the aforementioned consistency issues, will it confuse people that the menu/cm items for "back"/"forward" don't work with cmd/shift toggles?
We discussed this at last week's meeting and pink seemed to be concerned about the consistency issue cl mentioned in comment 1.

At least for now, WF.

Given that Safari now appears to be using a standard NSToolbar and doesn't have that problem, it seems that comment 1 is likely solvable, so I think we should investigate it; reopening for that purpose.

Smokey was concerned (in bug 431053) about OS-consistency break, but I seriously doubt more than a handful of people would even notice that command-drag didn't work anymore, much less complain about it--how often do we really think people re-arrange their toolbars? I'd much rather we be internally consistent with a much more commonly useful commnd. (Also, since Safari already does what this bug is requesting, it's going to be somewhat difficult for someone to argue that we are violating OS standards)

This bug has been buried in the graveyard and has not been updated in over 5 years. It is probably safe to assume that it will never be fixed, so resolving as WONTFIX.
