The new theme in firefox 2.0b2 has a tab bar which uses a theme that looks like windows XP, not gnome.
Interestingly, the ugly gradient in the tab bar is not present in the windows version.
well, it is, but the color being different, it's much less ugly.
Could you please suggest how you would "fix" this bug? Change the color of the tabstrip? It's not very clear to me what you'd think would be an improvement, and bugs that can't be fixed aren't very useful.
I read some day that one of mozilla.org's goals with their products was to propose products that are windowsish on windows, gnomish on gnome and macosxish on macosx. One examples of such integration is the file picker dialog. I think the look too, is part of the integration, that is why there is a pinstripe and a winstripe theme, but I don't feel pushing windowsxpish things in pinstripe are a good idea. So here is my suggestion to help fixing: install gnome, install firefox, run both, and see how the tab bar look seems very different from the rest. And if you want more specific suggestion, here is what i thing should be done : remove the tabbar background image, and the different opacities.
And change the icons
"change the icons" and "use gnome and make it look better" aren't constructive suggestions, and it seems very likely to me that bug 350690 and/or bug 350689 will address your other suggestion ("remove the tabbar background image, and the different opacities") or otherwise fix the "ugliness". *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 350690 ***

Bug #350690 is about adding transparency to the tabbar background, not making the tabbar flat. That won't address the uglyness.
