User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7
The 1.5.0.6 to 1.5.0.7 update was a bad one for me. it is not stable. here is the problem:
after I updated FF to the latest version, I started getting the send/don't send window, however FF still runs in the background. I have VS.NET installed but I have no exprience in debugging. after I press the debug button I get this message:
Unhandled exception at 0x77c46fa3 in firefox.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0680f000.
and the diassembly points at this line:
77C46FA3 rep movs dword ptr [edi],dword ptr [esi]
(sorry I didn't double check it. it might be inaccurate)
after stoping the debugger FF continues to run but crashes after a few seconds.
BTW this is my first bug report ever.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
It happens suddenly and is not predictable
Actual Results:
after stopping the debugger, FF crashes completly.
Expected Results:
It should run smoothly as 1.5.0.6 did.
Unhandled exception at 0x77c46fa3 in firefox.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0680f000.

Anyone know why/how memcpy() can fail? http://bonsai.mozilla.org/cvsblame.cgi?file=mozilla/netwerk/cache/src/nsDiskCacheStreams.cpp&rev=1.17.4.1.4.1&mark=164#142
I don't think Session Manager has anything to do with it. I didn't have this problem when I was using 1.5.0.6 .

So does this issue also occur when you run Firefox in Safe Mode?

I ran FF in safe mode for some time and I didn't have problems. but again when I started it normally it crashed again with this incident id: TB23552483H
still I don't think extensions has anything to do with it.

Than any of your installed extensions causes this crash. Please give us a list of all installed extensions. Meanwhile you can disable all extensions and re-enable them step by step until the crash happens again. At this point you will know which extension is affected.

Sorry for the delay. Does this still happen for you for Firefox 2.0.0.2?

Reporter, if you can still reproduce this bug feel free to reopen. Meanwhile I close this bug as WFM due to missing response from reporter.

Gavin, any reason for reopening that bug? It's the cause of the session manager extension. Ideally we should mark the bug as invalid and not wfm.

The fact that the crash is triggered only by an extension doesn't mean there isn't a bug in our code. It's clearly still a problem if someone is reporting it again.

I didn't have problems until version 2.0.0.7. But since 2.0.0.8, I'm experiencing random crashes rather regularly, several times per day. Mostly it appears while loading pages in background tabs. I usually have 3 open windows with 3-10 tabs in each. I've sent talkback report TB37773210H.
I also have Session Manager extension installed (version 0.6.1.5), but I don't see any native code in it, only js and xul files.

Andrey, does it also happen after you deactivate Session Saver?
Reading over all comments we have a lot of talkback reports with the same stack. Confirming bug to be sure we won't miss it.

Sorry forgot to mention earlier. Recently I have upgraded processor from P4 HyperThreading to Core 2 Duo. I can't remember which of two events occured first: upgrade to 2.0.0.8 or processor change.
I have tried to bind firefox to single core, but after some time it crashed also.
Finally, I have found one saved session from session manager extension. If it is loaded on startup, it crashes firefox almost always. But if I start firefox with blank page and then load the session it opens without problems.
I'll try to deactivate session manager and report as will have any results.

Andrey, I installed Session Manager 0.6.1.5 and set your attachment as start-up session. But no crash occurs for me. Can you try to create a fresh profile and run the Session Manager with the default configuration? Does the crash even occurs?

I disabled session manager yesterday and had no crashes since then.
Today created fresh profile, installed session manager and tried to reproduce crash but failed. It works without problems. The bad thing is that after I enabled session manager in my default profile I can't reproduce crash with saved test session either. I leave session manager enabled in case could catch the problem again.

You haven't made a backup of your profile before you disabled Session Manager, right? That's bad. Hopefully you can get it to crash again. Since its installation do you have changed some of its preferences or are you using the default settings?

No, I created new profile, made a test but failed. So, I switched back to an old profile, enabled session manager and tried to reproduce crash there, but it works. I also tried to open many concurrent tabs in background. Sometimes it leads to browser crash, also without success.
The one strange thing I had noticed the second tab out of 4 saved in the session hungs. It had been showing blank page with loading icon for about 10 minutes and wasn't going to stop. It also ignores stop button.
Except enabling and disabling session manager I upgraded FlashGot plugin to version 0.6.9.7. These are all changes I can remember.
Probably, proxy server could be involved somehow. My jabber client that is working through the same proxy often lose connection or issue strange error messages. Yesterday there were some conversations with network adminstrator. Today connection looks more stable, but it is only suspiction.

That's bad. :/ So if anyone is still able to reproduce this bug please do the test I mentioned in comment 22.
