User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 If a document with Content-Type: image/png is sent to Firefox, then it loads the URL twice. Try it out -- make a server side script that sends PNG files directly to browser, attach a counter to it and voila for a single refresh the counter increases by two. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. make a server side script that sends PNG files directly to browser 2. attach a counter to it 3. a single refresh the counter increases by two. check it out ============ here's the image creator: http://www.kohviradio.com/board/tokenimage-create.php here's the counter: http://www.kohviradio.com/board/counter/counter Actual Results: what happened was that firefox asked for the file twice, although I made only one request Expected Results: one request in browser means firefox should make exactly one request to the file I'm asking for I found this bug while developing a spam protection solution. You know the drill -- dynamically created images and users have to type in the verification code. Actually it's quite annoying if my database fills up twice the speed it should by design :(
