To verify on WinXP delete the HKLM Software\Classes\FirefoxHTML\shell\open\ddeexec\Application and HKLM Software\Classes\FirefoxHTML\shell\open\ddeexec\Topic keys, set Firefox as the default browser, and verify the keys get added. 

    
    

    
  
Verified fixed for 1.8.1.2 using the steps from comment#3 using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/2007020823 Firefox/2.0.0.2 - keys get added.
