Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20060919 SeaMonkey/1.1b
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20060919 SeaMonkey/1.1b

When dragging a scrollbar, I often drift off the scrollbar out of the window, releasing the button there. When the button release happens over another underlying SM window, the button release does not get noticed. The scrollbar stays highlighted and when I bring the cursor back into the window to move it to an item in the window, the window tracks the cursor while it is in the right portion of the window. This causes the window to be mis-positioned, often requiring a return to the scrollbar. Minimally, I need to click in the window to get the button release to be recognized.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open two browser windows, with the top one positioned to the left of the underlying window so that the space to the right of the top window is the underlying window.
1. Pull up a long web page in the top window.
2. Click on the scrollbar and drag it to scroll the window.
3. Drift the cursor to the right and release the button over the underlying window.
4. Bring the cursor back over the top window.

Actual Results:
When the mouse is released at step 3, the scrollbar remains highlighted.
When the cursor is brought back into the window, the scrollbar tracks it anytime it is in the right portion of the window, resulting in unwanted scrolling.

Expected Results:
When the button is released, scrolling operation should end.

I'm primarily using a trackpad on a G3-800 iBook. I have reproduced this using an IBM USB mouse. (Earlier I was testing with a Kensington mouse, but could not reproduce it. I don't think I had the problem as well worked out though.) Although I cited a browser example, it seems to happen with Mailnews and Chatzilla as well.

Does not happen in Classic theme. Does not happen on my wife's XP laptop (I believe I last tested at 1.0.3 or 1.0.4) Does not seem to happen if one releases over the desktop or another app (although at one point in time I thought it did.?)

I think this bug has always existed in all releases of SM.
