Can you give any more information on this.
What toolbar are you inserting it to?
Does the regular space work?
What else is on the toolbar?

I moved location bar to main toolbar and try add flexible space to toolbar between icons and search bar. I used this in 1.5.xxx and working fine, search bar is going to the right side. In 2.0 RC1 and pervious releases 2.0 ,search bar increase width, not flexible space. Regular space work properly.

Ok the problem is that the search bar was made flexible and its more eager to eat space than the flexible space. I'll confirm this as an issue.

The same behavior is with location bar. Location bar eat space.

Ultimately, the solution here may be for the searchbar to be only manually resized (not auto-flexing), and for the location bar to flex.
One shorter-term solution to this would be to try and scale down the flex factors of the search and location bars, so that the flexible space has more usefulness when placed alongside one of them.
Summary: 'Flexible Space' not working → Search bar, location bar demand more flex than Flexible Space

You don't understand this bug. This bug is that the search bar was made flexible and its more eager to eat space than the flexible space. I have not problem with search bar size.

I did create Bug 365215 because one of the effect of the search bar new behaviour (its size is flexible and between flexible space and search bar the last one win and takes all the available width) is that when it is placed in the menu bar (which contains a flexible space) then it takes a big big width. I've always use Firefox with the search box placed in the menu bar, and updating to version 2 I had the surprise to see the search box width so huge !
So for my problem the workaround I indicated works just fine. Now, I let Mozilla gurus decide what to do for the product : keep the search box width flexible and add a "priority system" with the flexible space, or anything else. For me as a simple user the problem was discovering in this new version the search box width far more important than before.
