User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; pl; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; pl; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 "firefox.exe generated an error and will be closed by the system" error is occuring very frequently and for no aparently reason while browsing webpages. This seems unrelated to javascript, any extensions or plugins. The only thing that seems to have impact is the number of open tabs - the more tabs are open, the sooner firefox will crash. On the other hand, sometimes it crashes just after being open, or while using just one or two tabs. This problem didn't occure in version 1.5.0.6 and previous - this started after the upgrade to version 1.5.0.7. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: This happens randomly but You can try to do the following steps: 1.Open about 10 or more tabs 2.Do a lot of switching between tabs 3.Close 3-4 randomly 4.Reload any tab Actual Results: It crashed. Expected Results: Firefox shouldn't have crashed. System details: Windows 2000 SP4 Polish+latest patches, 256MB RAM RIMM PC700, 2 x P III-733/133/256, i820, Geforce2 MX400 64MB, RAM is not faulty, system is sane, no virus. module: firefox.exe

WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20060918 Firefox/2.0 Can you submit/do you have a Talkback ID from the Crash (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Talkback)
Version: unspecified → 1.5.0.x Branch
Hi, I don't have this program! File: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\extensions\talkback@mozilla.org\components\talkback.exe does not exists. Even this: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components\talkback.exe What i need to do to install it? Thx for help
Version: 1.5.0.x Branch → unspecified
It's not installed for everyone by default, only a small percentage of users get it (to limit the number of bug reports, there are just too many users !). You can always force it, by choosing 'Custom Install".
OK i got it. Now if the problem occures I'll send the TalkBack ID.
You've got a lot of plugins, which of them are needed for the steps to reproduce? Did you see a memory growing and growing? Maybe you want to use this free tool to have a look? http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html If you want to update your plugins, especially recommend for Java, as there are still crasher bugs in 1.5.0_06, you can get Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 8 over here: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/windows.html#Java or at Sun: http://javashoplm.sun.com/ECom/docs/Welcome.jsp?StoreId=22&PartDetailId=jre-1.5.0_08-oth-JPR&SiteId=JSC&TransactionId=noreg http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp Your Quicktime 6.3 is rather old: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/windows.html#QuickTime Same goes for Acrobat, but I'm using Foxit http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/windows.html#Acrobat http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader_2/down_reader.htm
Alice, great, just make sure you paste the incident ID of the crash here once you crash.

Hermann Schwab-Answers: You've got a lot of plugins, which of them are needed for the steps to reproduce? Did you see a memory growing and growing? Maybe you want to use this free tool to have a look? Answer: Without this plugins i can't live. I'm webdesigner. And i need to know everything about website and see everything on webs. My memory isn't growning. I don't need free tools especialy this kind. I can see how many free RAM have left by simple pressing CTRL+ATL+DEL.... If you want to update your plugins, especially recommend for Java, as there are still crasher bugs in 1.5.0_06, you can get Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 8 Answer: I don't use so often java to make updates almost everyday but i done this today. Few minutes ago... Your Quicktime 6.3 is rather old Answer: YES! I like old Quicktime. Anyway I made upgrade.... Same goes for Acrobat, but I'm using Foxit. Answer: I'm using Acrobat and older version because is faster than newer version. I just downloaded Foxit, I will try it....
(In reply to comment #9) > Hermann Schwab-Answers: > Answer: Without this plugins i can't live. I'm webdesigner. I didn't doubt you need all of these plugins. I just wasn't sure if you can see the bug maybe using only the flash plugin. I wanted to recommend using a zip-version of Firefox 1.5.0.6 besides your regular installation, but release versions don't have zips, and I didn't find nightlies between Aug, 2005 and Aug, 2006, seems something was lost. With this lot of plug-ins it seems we must wait until you can send a talkback record to see what was crashing.

Depends on: 336576
This is not the case. Clicking on iframe didn't crash Firefox. I just checked with supplied testcase.

I've also noticed another thing: When Firefox is going to crash: it refreshes sites with no reason (few times) and then it crashes. Especially when i switch tabs. It looks like this: 1.I switch a tab, 2.The site in the tab "blinks" once or a couple of times, 3.Site dissapears, 4.Firefox crashes.
This is what apears in Windows application log when firefox crashes. Hope it helps...
I got another crash... TalkBack ID: TB23942455Z
This is the same crash as bug 336576. It may have different steps to reproduce, but it's the same crash. If I had to guess, it's probably being caused by an extension you have installed. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 336576 ***

Well, this is still very likely a duplicate of bug 336576, you should not get this crash anymore when the next security update comes out.
Ok ok. I'll let u know if there is no more bug after update. Hope it's soon....
Marking dup of 336576. Please reopen if you still see the crash.
