Muddled around on Teruko's machine. The installer barfs during extraction. May be due to the non-i18n hacks people put while I was on vacation :o) The next step is to verify that this works on a us-en OS 9.0 machine. Grace, Is the Mac installer working on OS 9.0/G4 configs (yesterday's and today's builds)? Teruko, I must admit, I'm still a little suspicious about your OS 9.0 installation since it was complaining about not finding QuickTimeLib and couldn't even launch seamonkey. This will probably become higher priority if we can reproduce this condition on another OS 9.0/G4. We're in feature mode now but such a bug will take precendence if rampant. Could you try reproducing this on a similar configuration (OS 9.0 ja)? Thanks.

After I install QuickTime, Netscape installer worked. I do not think this is only in JA system. I changed Summary.
Severity: major → normal
Summary: MAC installer does not work on System 9.0 JA → MAC installer requires QuickTimeLib
Most interesting find Teruko. Thanks.
Simon, I don't link to QuickTime, yet it appears to be a requirement for both the installer and seamonkey. Seeking input. Does QuickTime provide magically provide some core functionality or is it linked into core libs? Is it part of a typical MacOS (9.0) install?
We use QuickTime for sound playing code in widget. We could weak-link and detect at runtime, but it would not be that bad to require QuickTime, since most people have it installed.
Hmmm. I don't link with QuickTime though. Oh, but the XPinstall engine probably is linked in with code that requires QuickTime. OK, marking this wontfix. You need QuickTime to run Seamonkey and hence to run the installer. Adding verah to the cc list so she can document this tidbit in the readme or relnotes if deemed appropriate.
