Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 I saw a dialog box asking if I wanted to import bookmarks. There was no identifying information. Colors were standard Microsoft colors. There was no separate information telling me that Firefox was in the middle of an update. What the hell do I know? So I told it no, leave my stuff alone! Lo and behold, it was Firefox trying to update itself. I've lost my bookmarks and preferences. I can recover the info, as it happens. But I am unhappy about it. I want to be told when something is going on that will change my data. Words to the effect of "Firefox has been updated, would you like to import your bookmarks?" in BIG letters on the dialog box might be an appropriate solution. Even better, a notification saying "Firefox is updating itself, is now a good time for you or should I come back later?" Reproducible: Didn't try
As I review my setings to change them back to what they used to be, I find in my update history log that Firefox was updated as follows: Firefox 1.5.0.7 (2006090918) Security Update Install on: Wednesday, December 31, 1969 at 4:00:00 pm Status: undefined
Comment 1 is bug 316328. Please try removing the file localstore.rdf in you profile: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Folder http://kb.mozillazine.org/Localstore.rdf http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks If this does not solve the problem, start firefox with the profile manager and select the right profile if there are more than one. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 319196 ***
