User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 The location bar has a history pulldown for frequent sites (small downarrow at right). While the history is displayed, instead of clicking on an entry, click on the menu bar for Bookmarks. Immediate crash. Happens in both rc2 and rc3. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.for simplicity, new window about:blank 2.click (or click and drag) on location bar downarrow for history. 3.instead of selecting a history item, click on Bookmarks menu. Actual Results: Crash. Expected Results: dropdown history panel should disappear, Bookmarks should appear instead. For some unknown reason, I do send an Apple crash report, but Talkback doesn't happen. Also, after the crash, the (hidden) Dock will not appear until Hiding is turned off (under the Apple menu), and when turned on again works normally. So, there is some problem with events being passed to the wrong place after Firefox has crashed. On restart, Firefox "remembers" an old (previously closed) page, instead of the fresh about:blank, so there is considerable state lossage happening.
William: I am pretty sure you are hitting this bug: Bug 351230. If you can send talkback in, or paste the apple crash report and attach it, we can look at the stack. Thanks.
OK, I've added the crash.log as an attachment. Two crashes of rc2 and two crashes of rc3. (After verifying its reproducability, I checked for an update just in case it had been fixed, and verified again.) Since when are pulldown menus called popups? Anyway, it could be related to the other bug, only you folks looking at the stacks will know for sure.
William: In comparing the two stacks, they look identical to me, so I am going to resolve your bug as a dupe of Bug 351230. I think this bug manifests itself in different ways, including clicking on the menu bar while you have the location bar pulled down. That is the exact way I was able to reliably reproduce the bug. Thanks for the report. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 351230 ***
