Build 2000041409 M16 Windows Installer running on Windows NT 4.0 SP6a. Browser crashes on any reload followed by a window resize. Tested on FTP and HTTP links. Steps to reproduce: 1) Load http://www.mozilla.org 2) Right click and select reload 3) Minimize the window. You should see a message coming up telling you that mozilla crashed.
confirming this.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
addition note - this crash happnes only with reload selected from the rightmousebutton popup.
reproduced in today's verification bits on Win98. pretty obscure and involves lots of areas. reassigning to danm as p2 for M17, cc pinkerton for context menu involvement, troy for layout, and saari for focus

Mozilla for the last week or so has been crashing for windows on GKHTML.DLL in windows for resizing and minimizing the browser alot. Check out but bug http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35643 and http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35863. For other crashers. these seem to be duplicates, but not sure which one to keep
bug 35643 is a occasional crash and only at a certain screen resolution, and 35863 is not reproducable all the time for the reporter. These bugs might be related to this, perhaps even depend on this being fixed. this, however, is 100% reproducable. i think we need a linux person to try to reproduce this.

No problem on linux. Tried to reproduce on PC/Linux (SuSE6.2, X11, fvwm95-2) with build 2000-04-14-09-M16 and a few others.
I think the severity of this bug is under-appreciated. This seems to be just one of many ways to crash mozilla by minimizing it. This is my number-one crasher currently, and I haven't had to use that term in a long, long time. I don't even need to hit reload to crash the browser. I just need to minimize the browser, often while a page is loading. I truly hope that this bug gets squashed by M17. I'm a little surprised this isn't a blocker.

In my previous content, I should have said: No problem on linux with _minimization_. If you resize the window instead, it always crashes. Tested on: 2000-04-14-09-M16 2000-04-15-05-M15 You don't have to select reload from the context menu. Instead, you can also - right-click to bring up the context menu - left-click somewhere to make the context menu disappear - and then click on the reload button These three steps instead of selecting reload from the context menu do the same. Another similar method has been described in bug 35643 by gstoll@rice.edu
Ok, this is a dupe of 35643. Taking trudelle's cc list to the other bug, as it has a simplified crash case. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 35643 ***
