Odd. Using what I presume is the same build, the one in the 2000-04-14-10-M16
directory under ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/, I did not
see blank options in the comboboxes at all, testing on WinNT. I'm running
the Talback .zip version.
Excellent bug reporting, harman_mcauliffe@msn.com.au, sorry I couldn't
reproduce the problem. Where in the list does the blank item show up for you?

Notice that the browser doesn't crash as soon as the test case is loaded, even
though the option with no text is selected by default. you have to select it
manually to produce the crash.
Let's try the "HTML Form Controls" component.

Only happens in combo boxes, btw - if you add SIZE=2 to the select tag in the
test case, no crash occurs.
Summary: selecting <option value="foo"></option> crashes browser → crash: selecting <option value="foo"></option> in dropdown listbox
