Details
If you set the option to "Open new messages in: an existing message window" it works find for opening messages from the thread pane. But if you are opening a series of messages from the Search Messages window, each one opens in a new message window.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Set the Open New Messages option to "an existing window"
2) Right-click a populated folder, select Search Messages
3) Search for some criterion that results in multiple matches
4) Open one of the results (double-click or Open button)
5) Open another result
Actual results:
5) Now there are two standalone message windows, one for each result
Expected results:
5) Second message opens in original message window.
Other than the convenience of not having to close multiple windows, this would have an added advantage if the message bodies are being searched for text -- using the searchbar with "Highlight All" turned on, each new window would automatically highlight the occurrences of the search string. With a separate window for each message, it's necessary to re-enter that search string and click Highlight for each one.
