"While casually browsing pages, suddenly all browser activity stops completely. Firefox acts as if it has lost the network connection."
It happens to me every 20-40 minutes if I use the browser. After it freezes, the interface is still usable, but it won't be able to make any new network connection.. you cannot load new webpages, but also not RSS feeds, nor check for Extension updates, etc. So like if network was down, except it isn't (other browsers work).
After I close the window, firefox.exe remains in task manager processes. I have to kill it manually, and only then I can browse again with a newly started Firefox.

Didn't have this problem with Firefox 1.5, I disabled my Firewall, updated Java, updated Flash, disabled all Extensions, the problem still occurs.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Surf for 20-60 minutes, until you won't be able to load new pages.
Actual Results:
Network activity stops in Firefox.

No such problems at all here. Have you tried:

- Firefox's safe-mode to exclude extension problems
- a reinstall in a new empty directory
- a new profile?

I have the same problem since weeks. I have tried all solutions you have suggested, even deleted the registry at reinstall, but nothing help. Please help, i dont want reinstall the whole windows, and its really annoying.
I have the same problem as I install Firefox 2.0, and didn't have it with 1.5. Actually it's very annoying, please solve it somehow.
Its been happening to me too and im sick of it.

Are you sure you have the right network options settings that Windows does not disconnect after a certain amount of time? See image.

Could also be caused by a firewall problem; as a matter of fact I see this kind of problem once in about 2 months and in that case I delete the permission in my firewall and also the fingerprint (MD5) and the next time when I start Firefox again the permission window comes up.

Windows XP

Often, while browsing the internet in Firefox 2.0.0.11, Firefox will loose its connection to the network. This usually occurs while trying to load a page. After a few minutes, you get a screen that says Firefox cannot connect to the network and you should check your internet connection. For me this mostly happens when loading Java applets. When Firefox looses network connectivity, I try to restart Firefox. The problem is that Firefox will not restart. After you close Firefox, if you go into Task Manager and view the Processes tab, you will see that FIREFOX.EXE is still running, even if you terminate this process Firefox will still not load, so far my only solution is to restart Windows XP.
Reporter: Do you get the network error pages when trying to load a page or is the throbber just spinning endlessly? If the latter, can you answer the second question I asked in bug 411258 comment 1?
