If you remove the iframe element and then add it back to the document, the iframe will loose its content and the designMode will be disabled.

In IE6 it works ok.

Tested with:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20061123 Minefield/3.0a1

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; es-AR; rv:1.8.0.8) Gecko/20061115

Probably a dup of bug 254144, but marking as a dependency instead as a reminder to test designMode again when that bug is fixed.
